REALDO

After the village of Creppo, having left behind the characteristic Arma Pisciusa, we find a road digged into a rock in a completely new habitat with projections, natural cavities, erratic masses; on a Realdo precipice, a group of houses dominates the high Argentina Valley. In 1947 the territory of Realdo became part of the Council of Triora. Some people say that the village was made more than 200 years ago by a group of "Brigaschi" shepherds; other say that the Savoy State wanted to face with outpost the enemy, Verdeggia, which belonged to the Genoa’s jurisdiction of Podestà in Triora. The ancient name of the area, indicated as "Ca’ da Roca" makes us believe that the second theory is more likely.

The citizen of Realdo, in character and language different from the Triora ones, have always been very proud of their own traditions, so much to print out two magazines, "Il nido d’aquila" and "La Vastera". All this to exploit old traditions. Very appetizing are the sugeli, homemade with wheat flour and served with potatoes, oil and cheese "bruzzo".

Borniga, il Pin, l’Abenin, Cravitti and Carmelo (or Pastorelli) are the "Morge" of Realdo; here it survives old customs, here you can enjoy the nature perhaps by doing some mushrooms picking or by tasting a nice slide of local bread with honey.
