MONESI Monesi, fraction of Triora is a known skiing area, situated at 1400meters on the slops of Mount Saccarello. Monesi has been since the Eighty’s a renowned winter station, especially for the closeness to the Ligurian Coast, in fact it is only 55 km away from Imperia.
Unfortunately in the last years due to the vicissitudes of life, of which lack of snowing, Monesi got to a slow decline, and the climbing system are gone down from five to two. Very interesting is the second ski-lift called the "Plateau", that takes to Mount Saccarello (2200 meters) to the feet of the majestic "Redentore" Statue, the view from up there is breathless, overlooking all the Alps and Mediterranean Sea until the Isle of Corsica. Monesi is not reachable from Triora during the winter period, but from the Region of Piemonte on the motorway Torino-Savona, taking the exit to Ceva on the road 28 to the Col di Nava, from there a provincial road on the right hand side taken to San Bernardo di Mendatica and then to Monesi. From Liguria instead it is reachable by the motorway "A10" Genoa – Ventimiglia, exit to Albenga arriving from east or Imperia if from west, reached Pieve di Teco passed the village a provincial road on the left hand side takes first to Mendatica and then to Monesi. In Monesi there are two Hotels-Restaurants, a bar, a grocery and food shop; and there is a skis and boots rent place. |
